There is definitely racism in Japan, but is usually not motivated by hatred, rather things like fear or that is just easier to deal with Japanese only.
 
Images of L.A. riots with black families driving into the local supermarket and looting (that’s getting back a few years now), black crime in the U.S., etc., and the complete mess Africa is in, and with the ratio of failed marriages between black (usually Nigerian) and Japanese being very high – these kind of things give a really bad impression. It is not fair and wrong to judge people on the action of a few, and the social problems in the U.S. are the fruit of bad seeds (in the form of black slavery and segregation) that were sowed a few generations ago (but not that long ago).
 
But in reality, if a white person and a black person who were equally qualified were to apply to a Japanese firm, the white person is more likely to get the job – which is wrong, but I think that would be accurate.
