Again, if you are a Japanese man getting be prepared for the worst. If you are a gaijin with kids, NEVER get divorced in Japan.

You carry a great risk in Japan but at the same time its VERY difficult for a divorced woman to support herself with kids after a divorce and many women live in borderline poverty as they can not work full time while raising kids,

Women here hold all the aces when it comes to getting kids but its usually the husband who earns the wages in the family and survives financially.

PS A Japanese court may order a husband to pay alimony and child support but there is no punishment for not doing so. A large majority of Japanese men dont pay any child support, even though they can afford to pay.
