Lying at the extreme southeastern limit of the country, the mainly undeveloped tropical island of Ko Kut is the second largest in the Ko Chang archipelago. Its remote location in the Gulf of Thailand, together with easy access courtesy of a private plane service from Bangkok Airport, makes this resort a perfect getaway for some seriously indulgent R&R.
You can choose a villa on the beach front or on the hillside. Both come with a private infinity pool, split-level sunbathing terrace, master bedroom and separate living and dressing rooms. Rates include a personal butler, as well as air transfers and all meals and drinks. Even though this is a small resort you still have a range of dining options, with no fewer than three restaurants and other outlets such as an ice-cream parlour and a hut dedicated to all things chocolate.
During your stay you should certainly take the short motorboat ride to sample the fare at Benz’s restaurant where an acclaimed Thai chef cooks up locally caught seafood in idyllic surroundings. And at the end of the day you can kick back and enjoy a classic movie in the resort’s open-air cinema.
It may take a lot to draw you away from the glorious beach and the resort amenities, including a state-of-the-art spa facility, but it would be a pity to leave Ko Kut without venturing into the pristine rainforest of its interior or visiting a traditional fishing village. The trek to Khlong Chao waterfall is particularly recommended.
