    Hello,

I was wondering if anyone had experience with giving birth in in Shanghai East hospital in Pudong? My wife is expecting in August and we are seeing doctor at this hospital but not sure if this place is best for us. Money are not issue as we are covered with insurance. Friend of mine told me that there was some problems with deliveries there before…don`t want to get paranoid but as we don`t speak any Chinese any feedback from someone who knows this place would be appreciated.

    Cheers!!

    Hi there,

I just had my daughter on December 10th and we used Shanghai East for the prenatal and the delivery. We could not have asked for better service!!

I have been to Parkway and some of the others and overall we were very satisfied with the whole experience. Dr Liu and Dr Kong (she used to be at Parkway) both delivered my baby and there was absolutely no problems and I had a C-section.

All the nurses spoke English and there was no communication issues at all. The room was kept spotless and the other thing we really enjoyed was the food!! For the 6 days we were there we had a fantastic menu.

I would defo recommend them………and the other thing that was nice was the ped doctor Dr Palter. She was very sweet and helpful and if (god forbid) your child needs medical care there is a ped unit in the hospital. I know some of the other hospitals that if your baby gets sick they will transfer him/her to a different hospital.

I did not give birth there, but Dr. Yvette Kong, who used to work at Parkway, is my OBGYN and she is absolutely the BEST OBGYN i ever had in my life.

I went all the way to Pudong to see her and once again was not disappointed. I am an old patient and went on a very slow day, so we had a long chat and she told me that she has delivered a few babies there already (had been there a month then) and she had all positive experiences with the team and the equipment.

She said she feels this hospital is better equipped to deal with an emergency than Parkway, the NICU is in the same building and their equipment is superior to that of Parkway.

Anyway, if only for Dr. Kong, and I would still feel safe having my baby there.
